The Babel text in Pinuyo

Genesis 11:1-9.

Text in Pinuyo 1.13.1 (i.e. slightly outdated).

1. Now the whole earth had one language, and spoke one thing.

2. And when they journeyed from the east, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.

3a. They said to themselves: "Come! Let us make bricks, and bake them thoroughly."

3b. And they used bricks for stone, and tar for mortar.

4. And they said: "Come! Let us build ourselves a city, and a tower, whose top reaches into the sky. And let us obtain glory for ourselves, so that we will not be scattered over the face of the entire earth.

5. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men were building.

6. And the LORD said: "Behold, this is one people, and they all have one language. This is the beginning of their deeds. From now on, what they intend to do will not be prevented."

7. "Come, let us go down there, and confuse their language, so that they will not understand one another's language."

8. And the LORD scattered them from there over the surface of the entire earth. And they ceased building the city.

9. Therefore it was named Babel; because [there] the LORD confused the language of the entire earth and scattered them from there over the surface of the entire earth.
