As told by the venerable Nal Zazúngo:
A little more than three thousand years ago, the eldest generations of
Cúsibe decided that the past was to be forgotten. Apparently, something
terrible had happened that they did not want their offspring to know
about. The government decreed that it was forbidden to preserve written
records of what had happened before a date called "Oblivious Day", and all
existing records were to be destroyed. They did a remarkable job. As far
as we know, all record of previous events was lost. The elder generation
refused to tell any stories of the Forgotten Era, and after two hundred
years, all rememberence of the past was lost forever. It is because of
these events that we don't know where our species came from, how we came
to live on this planet, or what was our history.
It is now the year 3074 of the Remembered Era, also called the Counted Era.
Scientists have searched for traces of the past in the most ancient of
our buildings, of which a few date back to a couple of decennia before
"Oblivious Day", such as the Láxin Éreon. But they found no record at all,
only ancient architecture.
Some people assume that the terrible thing that has happened might have
something to do with the nature of the Calentuyans, and that it could
happen again. But there is no knowing for sure.
The common keyboard layout is based on the Dvorak layout, influenced by Earth
keyboards, that are all in Dvorak now.
The á and à keys are actually shift keys, used for altering the vowel
keys to accented vowels. The á key is also used to place doubling bars
on consonants, and for the irregular digraphs nn and ss, although
these irregular digraphs also have their own keys.
